Lincoln's parents lived just 30 minutes away from the Flower Patch Bed and Breakfast. Their cabin and farm has been preserved in the Lincoln Log Cabin State Park. The site is on the famous Lincoln Trail highway.

The land of Miles of Prairie Smiles hosts one of the sites of the historic Lincoln-Douglas Debates. It happened in 1858, when they both of the famous men ran for Senator from Illinois. Lincoln lost. Two years later, Lincoln beat Douglas in the presidential race.

On your way to the Lincoln farm, you should also see the Thomas Lincoln Shiloh Cemetery where Lincoln's parents are buried. It's on the Lincoln Trail just south of Lerna, IL. In Charleston you will be delighted with the Lincoln-Douglas Debate Museum located on the Charleston Fair Grounds at the site of one of the seven famous 1858 senatorial debates.

Decatur, Illinois, 40 minutes from the B&B, features several Lincoln Sites, including a museum.

Lincoln Museum, Springfield, IL
The Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield, Illinois is a short hour and one-half drive from the Flower Patch. Guests who want to see both the Amish and the Lincoln history could not do better than staying at Arcola's Flower Patch.

If you're serious about Lincoln things there is also the little known Bryant Cottage in Bement, Illinois where Lincoln and Douglas planned their 1858 debates. It's just 41 minutes away from the bed and breakfast.
